Message from Gateshead Council

Although cases in school age children across Gateshead had reduced, the number of COVID-19 infections in this age group has again started to increase in recent days following the return from half term. In the last four weeks just over 20% of infections were in those aged 5-14 years old and we are subsequently seeing cases transfer into older age groups. Therefore, we are still advising schools to remain cautious in their approaches to managing COVID 19 within the school setting.

Children in Need & Anti-Bullying Week

We are linking Children in Need Day this Friday with Anti Bullying Week.

To show our commitment to Anti- Bullying we are asking everyone to wear odd socks on Friday. This is the same day as Children in Need so children can also wear their own clothes, dress up, wear spots or other Children in Need t-shirts, ears or badges.

We are focusing upon showing kindness through our actions and particularly our words this year rather than asking people for donations of money.  If you wish to make a contribution, we will send it on to Children in Need , but children can still show their support and dress up without a donation of money.

What is Black History Month?

Black people have not always been treated equally simply because of the colour of their skin. Lots of people knew that this was wrong and wanted things to change.
