Hello everyone,

How are you doing?  We truly hope that you are managing to keep going with everything that is going on.

The first thing that we want to say to you all is a big well done for all that you are getting done with the children during this time. We fully understand just how difficult it is for everyone.  Whether you are out working, working from home or are at home with your children, we appreciate the difficulties that this new situation brings to everyone. So, we are more than thankful and impressed by how much effort people are making to help their children to get online, to encourage them to do their work and to support them to do their best. That is not easy, we know! We are also very impressed by the children’s attitudes despite the enormous changes to their lives and what is being asked of them. We are trying our very best to keep the things we ask of them as normal as possible within a very abnormal situation.

We recognise how frustrated , frightened and uncertain adults and children alike might feel and over the next two weeks, the staff will be having a strong focus again on helping the children to recognise their feelings, accept them as normal, and to find creative ways to deal with them, so that none of us give in, give up or forget that we can always get up and try again, no matter how many times we fall or are knocked down. As Christopher Reeve ( the old Superman actor) said, “A  hero is an ordinary person who find the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles .“ Just now, we are all being asked to find the hero inside ourselves. But, when we are down, there is always someone here at Bede to offer a hand to help us back up. We are isolated and it is tough, but we are all here for each other and we will get through this as heroes for ourselves and each other.

You hear a lot on the news about how much the children are missing by being off school.  Yes, of course they are and the thing we all want more than anything is to have them back at school, but, we have to take the government advice on that and it will happen when it is safe for everyone. Let’s hope it won’t be too long. In the meantime, please do not worry too much about what is being lost. Just keep being the supportive and loving parents that the children need ; continue to reassure them and to provide them with your love and care .  Encourage them to do their online work ; ask them about it and be enthusiastic, but please don’t worry if you or your child find it tough. Get in touch with us and we will help you as much as we can.

The staff are working really hard to continue to provide the best that they can for your children. Their education is still moving forward and although it can’t be the same as coming into school every day, we are doing everything in our power to make sure no one falls or fails. Once we are back to school, we know we will have gaps to fill, but we are confident in our ability to do that. So, don’t worry! Keep working with us to give your child as much learning as you can each day , but if it is all too much one day and you need to play board games, bake a cake together or just snuggle together and read a book or watch a film, we understand. Do it! Keeping going is hard, but please don’t give up. Come back and try again the next day.

We all have family lives too and we know the strains everyone is facing. Together, we will get through this and we will come out the other side. Be gentle with yourselves and each other and make sure your children know that we are still very much part of their daily lives and we want to see them online. If there is anything at all that you need support with, do not hesitate to get in touch.

Enjoy as happy a weekend as you can.

All the best,

The Bede Team
