As a school, we had an amazing time learning to play our musical accompaniment to the song, Can Can by Offenbach. We all recognise this iconic piece of classical music and enjoyment dancing and playing along to it. Those who showed great perseverance and bravery in each class were awarded our musical hero certificate.

We worked really hard to improve our ability to play in time to the pulse of the music! We were amazing!

Reception and Class 1 Cups Challenge!

Reception and Year 1 were learning to repeat back and remember a simple body percussion pattern. They really enjoyed the different actions and were able to switch between two patterns for two parts of the song!

Class 2 and Class 3 Cups Challenge!

Class 2 and 3 were challenged to read the musical notation to learn to play a repeating pattern to accompany the song, Can Can by Offenbach. The real challenge was learning to play in time to the pulse of the classical music so that the cups could be passed around the group. It was so much fun working as a team!

Class 4 Cups Challenge!

Class 4 were challenged to read the musical notation to learn to play a repeating pattern to accompany the song, Can Can by Offenbach. They had to learn to play the crescendo of the song where the pulse quickened through that part of the music!

Class 5 and 6 Cups Challenge!

Class 5 and 6 were challenged to read the musical notation to learn to play a repeating pattern to accompany the song, Can Can by Offenbach. They had to learn to play with rests, crotchets and quavers which made the repeating pattern more complex and harder to memorise. It also added a ferocious tempo!
