Consultation on the Future of the ARMS Provisions at Bede Primary School

Gateshead Council has launched a formal consultation on a proposal to close the three Additionally Resourced Mainstream School (ARMS) provisions at Bede Primary School.

The proposal follows a request from the school's Governing Body, which considers that the current financial and operational arrangements for the ARMS provisions are no longer sustainable. The school and Gateshead Council have explored a range of options before bringing forward this proposal.

No decision has been made at this stage.

The consultation provides an opportunity for parents, carers, staff, pupils and other interested parties to share their views before a final decision is taken.

Consultation Dates

Consultation opens: Thursday 8 October 2026

Consultation closes: Thursday 12 November 2026

Proposed decision date: Thursday 14 January 2027

What Happens Next?

Following the consultation, all comments and objections received will be considered by the Local Authority before a final decision is made.

The decision is scheduled for 14 January 2027. If the proposal is approved, implementation would take place between January and August 2027.
