Friday 23 May 2025 Fairy-tale term This half-term, Reception have been exploring their imaginations through our fairy-tale topic “Once Upon a Time…”. So far, we have explored stories about knights and dragons; princesses and monsters; dinosaurs and department stores!

Friday 23 May 2025 Jack and the Beanstalk This half term, we have started our new topic, castles, knights and dragons with the story “Jack and the Beanstalk”. We explored the story, retold the story using props, used instruments to represent the mood in different parts of the story and even built our very own castle out of soft play blocks. We loved sitting on the throne with our crowns in the castle we built!

Friday 23 May 2025 Noble Knights We launched our new topic, castles, knights and dragons with a fantastic visit to Newcastle Keep. The children climbed hundreds of stairs to get to the top of the look out. We could see across the River Tyne, and the people looked tiny! We looked in the dungeons and the great wall was really huge. The Knight’s Armor was incredibly heavy, we all tried on a helmet.

Friday 23 May 2025 Castles & Knights This half term, we have started our new topic of Castles and Knights! We have been learning about different types of castles and the features they have. We went on a trip to Castle Keep in Newcastle and were amazed how far we could see from the battlements.

Friday 23 May 2025 Castles & Construction Class 7 used their DT skills to design and make a bug hotel for our new forest school. They used a variety of tools to construct the shelter, engaging their skills to join the materials together. Tommy-Lee especially enjoyed using the saw and claimed it was the best thing ever!

Friday 23 May 2025 SAT Smashers! Our Year 6 pupils approached the KS2 SATs with great confidence and determination. Their hard work allowed them to feel well prepared so that they could perform to the best of their abilities. Everyone at Bede is incredibly proud of their positive attitude and the calm, focused way they tackled each test. To celebrate the completion of this educational milestone, we were treated to an incredible buffet meal at Saji’s restaurant. To top the day off, the children were presented with their 2025 leavers Hoodies.

Friday 23 May 2025 Learning Ahoy! Class One have had a fantastic start to the summer term. We have explored a range of intriguing topics, including learning about significant figures in our local history, all about plants, created different artworks and much more.

Friday 11 April 2025 Grow for It! ABC has been striving forward with RWI Phonics, this term. This has helped the children improve their reading and spelling. They are able to recognise many sounds.

Friday 11 April 2025 Springing Around the Community As our ‘Around the World in 80 Days’ topic continued, we have been looking at different local places we like to visit. We have been looking at our homes, farms, town centres, parks and the beach. We have had an exciting time going to visit these places locally and hopefully now feel confident to visit these places with our parents too!

Friday 11 April 2025 Still Jet Setting! In class 9, on Shrove Tuesday, we carefully measured and weighed the pancake ingredients using scales. We watched as Lynda fried the pancakes. Abbie and Mrs McConnell skilfully tossed them in the air! Finally, we chose chocolate spread or golden syrup and added fresh fruit toppings. We rolled our pancakes and ate them up! Mmmmm delicious!

Friday 11 April 2025 Balancing Brilliance This half term, year have 4 have been introduced to gymnastics, focusing on balancing and rolling. The children learned how to perform different types of balances and rolls, developing their coordination, strength, and flexibility. Throughout the lessons, the children demonstrated significant progress in their confidence, balance, and ability to work as part of a team.

Friday 11 April 2025 Planting, Perimeter and Pyjamas Did you know that we are planting a forest? We, Class 4, have already planted around 100 trees on a part of our school field. We are so excited to be a part of developing an area for learning and enjoyment outdoors. That’s not all - we have been putting our writing skills to good use to bring about further developments for our school grounds. A POND! As a class, we decided to write to Gateshead Council to ask them for funding to create a pond habitat at our school.

Friday 21 February 2025 International Mother Tongue Day We are so happy to be a school with such a wonderfully diverse community, which blends together to form a very special family. We all work together to understand one another and to share our thoughts, ideas and experiences in order to help everyone grow and move forward. The different backgrounds, cultures and knowledge makes our school feel warm, welcoming and so fabulously multicultural. Thursday 20 February 2025 Golf is coming to Bede! Mrs Lewis has recently completed professional golf training, with a company called 'Little Sticks', and will be rolling out a brand-new golf programme for our key stage 2 children during the upcoming summer term!

Thursday 20 February 2025 Travelling Around As part of our ‘Around the World in 80 Days’ topic, we have been looking at how we travel around using different methods of transport. We have been learning about cars, buses, trains, airplanes, boats, rockets and motorbikes and now have a much better understanding of how to get from one place to another!

We have been researching life in different countries, especially focussing on El Salvador, Hong Kong, China, Romania, Nigeria and Chad, where some of our children’s families come from.
