Once Upon a Time...
This half term, Reception have been immersed in the wonderful world of storytelling through our topic, Once Upon a Time.... The children have embarked on a series of exciting adventures inspired by traditional tales and fantasy stories. They have explored a giant’s castle, crossed an ancient forest in search of dragon eggs, joined a pirate crew sailing to Skull Island and even brewed magical potions to save our class monsters from a witch’s spell. Through these imaginative experiences, the children have developed their creativity, curiosity and confidence while bringing stories to life through play and exploration.

Alongside their adventures, the children have continued to make excellent progress in their phonics, reading and early writing. They have explored a range of high-quality texts, created their own characters and settings, and begun to tell and retell stories using their growing vocabulary and imagination. In mathematics, the children have used their understanding of number to solve problems and complete challenges as part of their quests, helping them to develop confidence with counting, composition and reasoning. We are incredibly proud of how enthusiastically the children have embraced our storytelling adventures and look forward to seeing where their imaginations take them next.
