Everybody learns, everybody cares

SAT Smashers!

Our Year 6 pupils approached the KS2 SATs with great confidence and determination. Their hard work allowed them to feel well prepared so that they could perform to the best of their abilities. Everyone at Bede is incredibly proud of their positive attitude and the calm, focused way they tackled each test. To celebrate the completion of this educational milestone, we were treated to an incredible buffet meal at Saji’s restaurant. To top the day off, the children were presented with their 2025 leavers Hoodies.

Class 6 Sum 1 24-25

Ten Things Found in a Wizard’s Pocket

As part of their English work, the children created their own imaginative versions of the poem Ten Things Found in a Wizard’s Pocket. They used rich description and a wide range of figurative language, including similes, metaphors, and personification, to bring the magical items in their poems to life. The children showed great creativity and flair where they crafted a specific mood. These ranged from wonder, mystery, sadness to horror. They enjoyed learning to recite them with good pace and projected voices.

A Letter from a Faraway Land

We wrote informal letters from the perspective of traditional tale characters who had been (humorously) imprisoned for crimes linked to their stories—like the Gingerbread Man for kidnapping himself or Little Red Riding Hood for selling wolf pies. We explored the characters’ emotions and backstories, using powerful language to express feelings such as regret or defiance. We also developed our use of humour by writing puns and jokes, adding personality and voice to our letters. The letters were a lot of fun to write and very creative!

Cam Toys Showcase

We had a fantastic time sharing our cam toys with the younger pupils in Class 2. They were fascinated by the moving parts and loved seeing how each toy worked. We explained how the cams made the different parts move and enjoyed answering their questions. It was a great opportunity to show off our hard work and practise explaining our learning clearly and confidently. The toys were extremely well made and very colourful.

Perfect Portraits

In our art lessons, we have been learning how to sketch different parts of the face to help us create realistic portrait artwork. We focused on features such as eyes, noses, and mouths, practising shading and proportion to bring our drawings to life. By studying facial structure and using careful observation, we developed our skills over repeated sketches so that we can create our own portrait artwork.

Escape the Woods!

As part of our outdoor learning, we took part in a team challenge called Escape the Woods. In this activity, we worked in pairs to guide each other along a rope trail through the woods—while blindfolded! This helped us develop important skills such as trust, communication, and careful listening. For the final challenge, both partners were blindfolded and had to complete the course together, relying on communication and memory if the course and its obstacles. It was a fun and exciting way to build confidence and cooperation. We’re glad to report everyone made it out safely!
