Position Positivity
In maths this term, we have been using our positional knowledge to help us identify coordinates on a grid. We have identified a range of coordinates and can tell you that you must start on the x-axis before moving onto the y-axis. This allowed us to translate shapes on a grid, without changing the dimensions of the shape itself. We can’t wait to use our learning next term as we move onto shape!
Going for Gold
In number, we have been SUPER concentrating clownfish, practicing our number facts and using mathematical language within our talk partner explanations. This term, we achieved our golden target by learning 36 focus facts! We can use a range of mathematical representations to explain each focus fact and have loved practicing our facts in time with pop rhythms. Well done to Naya, Munirah and Kainat for their motivation and perseverance this term! Keep up the great work Class 5!
Magnificent Life Cycles
This term, we have been writing a non-chronological report upon the topic of life cycles. We have continued to focus on our use of technical vocabulary to provide in-depth explanations to the reader, including adaptations, endothermic and phases. In addition, we have considered the importance of an effective topic sentence, and how this can signpost the reader and grab the reader’s interest. We can’t wait to continue using our writing toolkit in our final half term!
Planet Class 5: The Premiere
To celebrate Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday, we decided to use our scientific learning and produce a follow-up episode of our documentary series. Using our knowledge from science and our writing topic, we immersed ourselves into the documentarian role and explained the four key states within the life cycle of a butterfly. What a wonderful way to celebrate Sir David Attenborough’s milestone!
Fantastic Forest School
This term, we have had the wonderful opportunity to explore the forest to support our learning. So far, we have used effective teamwork and communication skills to create flower crowns and bouquets. We can’t wait to continue investigating next term!
