Super Summer

Splendid Shapes

This term in maths, we have been identifying a range of 2D and 3D shapes. We can tell you that a cube has 6 faces, 12 edges and 8 vertices. Additionally, we can tell you that a square-based pyramid has 5 faces, 12 edges and 5 vertices. We loved participating in a shape carousel and testing our knowledge of a range of 3D shapes and thinking about real life examples. Let’s build on this more next year in Year 6!

Brilliant Biographies

The class have loved writing biographies about a range of interesting figures within British history, including Walter Tull and Sir David Attenborough. We have been focusing on our use of relative clauses to provide extra detail for the reader about the noun in our writing. Hugo used fantastic conjunctive adverbs and coordinating conjunctions within his writing to provide extra detail for the reader. Furthermore, we have been considering our use of subordinating conjunctions and clauses to explain why Walter Tull left his successful football career to join the army. Kamsi used a range of parenthesis to let the reader know specific details and events throughout the life of Walter Tull.

Treat People with Kindness

During Curiosity and Kindness Week, as a class we spread positivity and kindness around school through art. Firstly, we created small positive pebble designs, which included messages such as ‘Be Kind!’, ‘You’re Amazing!’ and ‘Keep Smiling!’. Next, in small groups we collaborated and created designs to use as pavement art on the school yard. Look at our final class design below! Absolutely fantastic work!
