Everybody learns, everybody cares

Woodland Work

Year 4 have had a fantastic and busy half term, filled with enthusiasm, creativity, and determination across all areas of their learning!

In Literacy, the children did a brilliant job bringing history to life through their biography writing. They explored the life of Beatrix Potter, learning about her achievements as an author and illustrator. They worked incredibly hard to organise their ideas, use clear paragraphs, and include interesting facts, making their writing both informative and engaging. It has been wonderful to see their confidence grow as writers—they should be very proud of the effort and care they have put into their work. Well done, Year 4—amazing writers!

In Numeracy, the children have shown fantastic determination and resilience while learning to read scales and tackle tricky word problems. They have worked hard to interpret different scales carefully, think logically, and apply their knowledge to solve challenging questions. It has been brilliant to see their confidence grow as they explain their reasoning and support one another.

Year 4 have also thoroughly enjoyed their golf lessons. They have shown great enthusiasm and skill while developing their techniques, practising both putting and chipping with focus and determination. As this is their second year of golf, it has been fantastic to see their coordination and confidence improve. A special shout out goes to those children who attended the ‘Little Sticks’ tournament at Gateshead Leisure Centre, where they represented the school brilliantly. You should all be very proud of your effort, teamwork, and positive attitude—excellent work!

Class 4 Spr 2 25/26

In RE, the children showed their thoughtful and mature side as they explored the question, “Is it always possible for Christians to forgive?” They engaged in meaningful discussions, listened respectfully to different viewpoints, and used their understanding of Christian beliefs to support their ideas.

Finally, Year 4 had an exciting outdoor learning experience working with Jess from the Royal Forestry Society. They explored different habitats within the forest, discussed the animals that live in UK woodlands, and searched for insects, examining them closely using magnifying glasses. The children then worked collaboratively to build their own micro-habitats, showing excellent teamwork and curiosity about the natural world.

Well done, Year 4—you have all worked incredibly hard and should be very proud of everything you have achieved!
